89 There is an alternate theory of this Jonathan's parents, siblings and ancestry. This theory is suggested by Sandy Baker, who lives in Washington state. She is a descendant of Jonathan, through his son George. Sandy and her mother Bessie were originally from Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where she apparently had other connections including the Reeves and the Mangus families. She says of this::

"About Jonathan, he was adopted by a wealthy family by the name of Sayer in Scotland. They wanted him to become a priest, which he disagreed with the extra book in the bible that the Catholics have. When he refused to become a priest they disowned him. So he changed his name back to Jamison and immigrated to the state. Now I do not know if he changes his name back to Jamison before or after he got to the states. My mother Bessie said that Jonathan was a twin so there should be a brother also."

Martin Jamison, a direct descendant of Jonathan, suggests this other family might be that of Robert and Mary (Wotherspoon) Jamieson, of Glasgow, Scotland. A workup of this other family can be found here
Jamison, Jonathan (I293)

90 There seems to be no trace of William or Jane Jameson, apart from the record of their 1851 arrival in Philadelphia. The only records of this family in America, appear to be in the 1860 Federal Census where returns exist for teenage sons, Jonathan, William and Alexander, all living north of Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, each in separate households with other families. This suggests the parents are no longer around, possibly having died. Family: William Jameson / Jane (Unknown) (F18)

91 These two males were listed together in the shipping manifest, with the surname spelt the same. Have presumed they are related. Family: Unknown Jameston / (F96)

92 This could be him in the 1870 US Census but need to check.

93 This person appears to be duplicated by the NA list. The duplication (I102) is only with regards to the arrival date (16 Jul 1849 instead of 16 Jun 1849). All other information for the two entries is identical. BTW - this duplication appears to be for the entire ship (there are two manifests reported, with two separate arrival dates). Jamison, Isabella (I99)

94 This person appears to be duplicated by the NA list. The duplication (I99) is only with regards to the arrival date (16 Jul 1849 instead of 16 Jun 1849). All other information for the two entries is identical. BTW - this duplication appears to be for the entire ship (there are two manifests reported, with two separate arrival dates). Jamison, Isabella (I102)

95 Was not listed as part of the 1851 immigration (passenger list) Jameson, Sarah Jane (I638)

96 William arrived in America, at Philadelphia, in 1851 aboard the ship "Philadelphia," with his parents and two brothers. No definitive records can be found about him (or any of the others) that can be said to prove, without any doubt, that this record is him. However this William Jamison, a Jonathan Jamison and an Alexander Jamison, all of the appropriate ages and background, can be found in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in the 1860 census, each living in separate households. The parents, William and Jane Jameson however, cannot be found here, or anywhere for that matter, suggesting this family had, for some unknown reason, broken apart. Furthermore, all the information presented here, however accurate onto itself, is therefore circumstantial as to its possible connection to the family as it is known. Jamison, William (I636)

97 William's birth dates are all over the place depending on the document. The emigration ship's passage may be the most contemporaneous. It suggests 1844. The IGI says 28 October 1843 but does not identify its source. William, by his own hand lists his birth date of 31 July 1844, County Derry, Ireland on a 1 Apr 1907, Military Pension Application. Jamison, William (I636)
